Freeing up Space
We needed to free up some of the flat surfaces in our class and storage is quite limited so we came up with the idea of displaying stuff on the walls. This display features the see-through metal spice containers which hold collage materials, the less expensive metal office supply boxes (also containing collage materials) and cardboard ribbon spools. The cardboard ribbon spools were decorated by the children. (First we painted them on one side with acryllic paint, once they were dry we coated them with white glue and let the kids place collage pieces on them). Then we glued magnets on the back side of the ribbon spools and they were ready to stick up. At one point the containers and spools were neatly lined up but not anymore, its a working display and we grab things down to use in the class often.

Re-purposed cardboard shoe inserts
We asked parents to send in objects we could use in art projects that they would otherwise be throwing away. We got great stuff...I love the eclectic look of these shoe inserts that the kids painted and decorated with buttons.
Ladybug, ladybug
Another simple little project using scrapbooking cutouts of red ladybugs and pine boughs. We let the children glue twigs onto plain white paper. We drizzled glue all over the twigs and provided them little bowls containing the ladybugs and pine boughs and they created.
Another mixed media project we did with two year olds. One day we let them use plastic netting and a couple colors of light blue paint on blue paper. The next day they glued on pieces to make an under water scene featuring a "jelly fish". The jelly fish is leftover laminator trimming with white tissue under it and shiny ribbons. They could also add little scrapbooking fish cutouts and tissue paper strips to make the seaweed.
Just thought I would toss in some pictures I had in an old computer of craft projects done with two year olds.
This is a mixed media lion. We let the kids draw grasslands with crayons then gave them a cut-out lion to place and glue down. We then put white glue in the mane area and let them put yarn in it to create a mane.

Coffee Filter Halloween Moon
Yikes...I need to work on my focus...Coffee Filter Halloween Moon. Done with liquid watercolors and scrapbooking embellishments and a few streaks of gold paint on black cardstock.
